Brief Biography: Dr. Fereshteh Kimia is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and a faculty member at Shahid Labbafinejad Hospital. She completed both her Doctor of Medicine degree and residency training in Anesthesiology at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and joined the faculty in 2020. Alongside her clinical responsibilities, she is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, serving as the liaison between the Department of Anesthesiology and the School of Nursing while supervising anesthesia trainees and medical students. Her clinical expertise includes kidney transplantation, uro-oncologic and laparoscopic surgery, pediatric and geriatric anesthesia, and perioperative care. Dr. Kimia’s research is centered on integrating artificial intelligence into anesthesiology to enhance clinical decision-making, optimize perioperative management, and improve patient outcomes through innovative, evidence-based approaches.

Research Interests:

  • Artificial Intelligence in Anesthesiology

  • Perioperative Medicine

  • Kidney Transplantation Anesthesia

  • Uro-oncologic Anesthesia

  • Laparoscopic Surgery Anesthesia

  • Pediatric Anesthesia

  • Geriatric Anesthesia

  • Clinical Decision Support

Current Research Focus: Dr. Kimia’s current research explores the application of artificial intelligence and precision medicine in perioperative care. Her ongoing projects investigate AI-based prediction of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) in patients undergoing percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) under spinal anesthesia and the role of gut and nasopharyngeal microbiota in postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) among elderly patients undergoing radical urological surgery. These studies aim to improve perioperative risk stratification, personalized anesthetic management, and postoperative outcomes.
