Brief Biography: Professor Alireza Salimi is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and a senior faculty member at Imam Hossein A.S. Hospital. He completed both his Doctor of Medicine degree and residency training in Anesthesiology at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and subsequently pursued fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine. With more than 26 years of experience in clinical practice, medical education, research, and healthcare leadership, Professor Salimi has played a prominent role in advancing anesthesiology in Iran. He currently serves as President of the Iranian Society of Anesthesiology, a Board Member of the Society for Intravenous Anesthesia (SIVA), a Board Member of the Tehran Medical Council, and Chief of the High Disciplinary Council of the Medical Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His academic interests include perioperative medicine, critical care, patient blood management, enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS), airway management, mechanical ventilation, neurocritical care, and patient safety. He has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed publications, national clinical guidelines, and numerous textbook chapters.

Current Research Focus: Professor Salimi’s current research focuses on improving perioperative and critical care outcomes through patient blood management, optimized mechanical ventilation strategies, and enhanced recovery pathways. His ongoing work also explores the neurological effects of mechanical ventilation, non-invasive neuromodulation, perioperative patient safety, and workforce well-being and resilience among anesthesiologists, integrating translational and clinical research to improve healthcare quality and patient outcomes.
