Brief Biography: Dr. Sohrab Salimi is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and a fellowship-trained Neuroanesthesiologist at Imam Hossein Hospital. He is recognized as one of the pioneers of modern neuroanesthesia in Iran and performed the country's first awake craniotomy for brain tumor resection in 2011, followed by the first pediatric awake craniotomy in 2025. Dr. Salimi has extensive expertise in neuroanesthesia, neurocritical care, intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), intracranial pressure monitoring, and advanced perioperative management of neurosurgical patients. His professional interests also include pain medicine and palliative care. In addition to his academic and clinical responsibilities, he serves as an experienced Medical Examiner for the Iranian Legal Medicine Organization and actively contributes to resident and fellowship education as well as multidisciplinary clinical research.

Current Research Focus: Dr. Salimi’s current research focuses on optimizing anesthetic management and neurological outcomes in patients undergoing complex neurosurgical procedures. His ongoing projects investigate the effects of ketamine-propofol anesthesia on intracranial pressure in patients with brain tumors and evaluate novel adjuvants combined with ropivacaine for erector spinae plane blocks in spine surgery. His research aims to improve perioperative neuroprotection, pain control, and recovery in neurosurgical patients.
